Maquan to Provide Out-Sourced
Corporate and Marketing Communications Management Services

Focus to be Professional Service Firms and Non-Profits

Boston, MA - October 1, 2007: A former executive with Bank of Boston and John Hancock Financial Services today announced the formation of a new company that provides corporate and marketing communications services to professional service firms and non-profits.

The company offers both internal and external communications counsel and specializes in executive communications, branding and promotion, public relations and community relations. It also provides conservation project facilitation services to clients in both the private and non-profit sectors.

“In some cases, we provide clients with the capabilities normally offered by an in-house communications director or department,” said Scott Sacco of Maquan. “In others, we augment the skills and capacity of the client’s own communications professionals – providing them with strategic counsel and implementation support on a project-by-project basis.”

Sacco, who formerly served in various senior-level communications, marketing and business operations roles with the Bank of Boston and John Hancock, and who later helped found and run Forest Systems, LLC, an $800 million forestland investment management firm, said the new company utilizes a networked consultancy business model.

“Maquan provides clients with strategy, planning, writing and project management expertise and utilizes a team of talented strategic partners to give them access to high quality creative production services,” he said. “This enables us to leverage our capacity to provide communications counsel by combining it with the work of outstanding design firms, printers, photographers, illustrators and producers. This is a highly efficient, flexible and cost effective approach for our clients to meet their corporate and marketing communications needs.”

Sacco describes Maquan’s approach as “strategy-driven story-telling.”

“The act of communicating effectively about one’s organization is hard work. It requires defining with precision what you are, what you do, how you do it, and how that makes you and your offerings better and different. We focus on helping our clients think deeply about the values, qualities and capabilities that define them, as well as the unique features and benefits that characterize their products, services and programs. We then work with them to tell their stories in ways that are compelling and impactful.”
